(Apr. 25) Italian wine celebrities Marchese Piero Antinori and Marilisa Allegrini will join the Great Summer Fine Wine Encounters next May and June. The event, to be held at The Landmark Hotel in London from May 19 to June 16 2012, will be the occasion to taste more than 300 Italian wines from 80 of Italy’s most renowned producers.
The first 15 days will be dedicated to Italian wines, the second to French Bordeaux and winemakers.
On the opening day, Marchese Antinori will present a masterclass of verticals of Solaia and Tignanello going back to 1982, and Marilisa Allegrini’s masterclass will cover vintages of her celebrated Amarone going back to 1990.
At the same time, in the Discovery Theatre, three informal tutored tastings will be presented by Vini Italiani – pairing luxury chocolate with Italian wine, Italy’s great whites and undiscovered Italian red wines.
Meanwhile, throughout the day, over 60 producers from every wine-producing region of Italy will be showing their wines in the Grand Tasting – including such celebrated names as Frescobaldi, Antinori, Isole e Olena, Masi, Planeta, Tenute, Silvio Nardi and many others. (Peg)
