(May 3) “You can see the crisis: empty shops, banks closed, streets full of people always ready to protest. In the air there is always a kind of electricity. A calm before the storm.” These are the feelings of a young economics student, Giulia Gambogi. She was born in Pisa 27 years ago and now she is studying in Athens to better understand changes and transformations that have revolutionized a country. “I always thought it was important to go abroad. When my university asked me if I wanted to go to Athens, I immediately accepted. I never had doubts or second thoughts,” says Giulia “living in another country and compare myself with different cultures have always fascinated me.” Giulia joined the Faculty of Economics at the Università del Sacro Cuore after high school and then attended a graduate program in Economics and Business Management at the University of Pavia. “I understand this ‘new migration’ and those who go abroad to work: I think that Italy doesn’t offer very much to young people. In our country we often forget the value of meritocracy and the consequence is that young people decide to leave the country. Don’t know if I will work abroad in the future, but I will leave all doors open “. Giulia has encountered some difficulties in the very beginning: “The first week was not easy at all but it has turned out as a positive experience to me. I hope Greece will come out from this crisis and find its former beauty ” (PO/Gil/Red)
