(Aug. 9) – The United States are deeply fascinated by Italian culture, as proved by all the “Little Italy” districts present in many American cities. And the Italian quarter in Chicago will host from today and until August 12th the “Festa Italiana” to celebrate the history and heritage of the Chicago’s Historic Little Italy, a place where many Italians migrated to and settled in at the turn of the 20th century. Promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, the four-day street fest will feature live musical performances by solo artists and bands playing on four stage, the grape stomping competition, the bocce ball tournament and highly anticipated Turano Baking Company and Fontanini Meatball Eating Contest. The streets of the neighborhood, already lined with legendary Italian restaurants, will now also feature booths, outdoor cafes, authentic goods, children’s activities. Festa Italiana, now at its 6th edition, will be a success as usual, with 50,000 guests expected. (Peg)
