Nov. 12 – Italian music occupies a central place in world history; its influence has in fact shaped the development of the international musical life. Maestro Riccardo Muti is the heir and chief representative of this Italian musical tradition. He is not only one of the greatest exponents of classical music, but his name is also synonymous of Italian cultural prestige and artistic ability. And his work now belongs to the history of music. Muti’s relevance in musical matters led Giovanni Puglisi, Dean of the Language and Communication University (IULM) to confer the honorary degree in “Arts, heritage and markets” to the great conductor. The dean will deliver the traditional laudatio at the award ceremony, scheduled for today. During the ceremony, Muti will also receive the gold medal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the promotion of Italian culture abroad.
