Nov. 12 – In the splendid residence of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, the second edition of the “Italian Wine Week” made its Japanese debut. The initiative aims at promoting Italian wine in a collaboration between ICE and Tokyo, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, as well as the Consulate General in Osaka, the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo, ENIT and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan. The “Italian Wine Week 2012” will offer, until Nov. 20, professionals and wine enthusiasts a series of 21 events ranging from presentations to walk-around tastings, from master classes to sommeliers competitions, and a special training school. The event’s ‘glamor’ associates the well-known Italian luxury brands, very much appreciated in Japan, to specific local food, in order to create the perception that sushi and sashimi, as well as other Japanese dishes, can be better appreciated with Italian wines. This year’s schedule includes some interesting shows in which the Italian wine will be featured at the National Azabu and Hanshin Department Store in Osaka, as well as important initiatives to be developed by Shangri-la hotels and Hyatt Regency Tokyo and ANA Intercontinental Kyoto.
