Nov. 16 – Fiat presents, for the first time in China, its technology for the mobility of persons with disabilities during the 2012 edition of the “Care and Rehabilitation Exposition.” The show is set in Beijing until Saturday and is the main event in China dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of disabled people. More than 240 exhibitors from 16 different countries are participating in the Expo, on an area of over 11,000 m2. The event is sponsored by the China National Ageing Committee and China Disabled Persons’ Federation, in addition to the strong involvement of the Ministry of Health and other ten of the main ministries in China. Fiat, in collaboration with IGIS (Italian Group for Innovative Solutions), has put on display a wide range of technological products. In China, Fiat presented vehicles adapted to allow people with limited motor skills to drive. It will also present a driving simulator, the MG2F, developed by the Fiat Autonomy Program, which allows to measure the residual forces of potential customers with disabilities: these results will allow Fiat to create a “tailor-made” model to meet the needs of different drivers. The Journey, this the name of the car, is the first Fiat vehicle to be produced in China by a joint venture between Fiat and Gac (Guangzhou Automobile Group). This collaboration has allowed the construction of a new world-class facility in Changsha, where Journey is built with a production capacity of 140,000 vehicles per year.
