Nov. 16 – Emilia Romagna “lands” at “The Passenger,” the Swiss International Holiday Fair in Lugano. 17 are the Emilia Romagna stands that will be open to the public until Sunday; located in a booth of 72 m2, set up by Apt Servizi, the stands will offer tasting of typical food products, and the possibility of participating in a contest to win a holiday in the region during the 2013 season. For some years now, the positive growth trend of Swiss tourists to Emilia Romagna has led the region to participate in “The Passenger” as a major promotional campaign. In 2011, Emilia Romagna registered an increase in arrivals from Switzerland (including Liechtenstein) of 5.03% compared to 2010, for a total of 154,732 visitors. At the same time, Swiss presence grew by 3.83% (794 264 visitors). There have been several promotional activities in 2012 organized by Apt Services, to make the “product Emilia Romagna” known to Swiss travel agencies.
Also, from September 4 to 7, in the provinces of Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena, an educational tour was organized for Swiss operators looking to learn more about the tourist attractions of these areas.
The initiative, which is part of the three-year project of territorial marketing developed by the Chambers of Commerce of Forlì and Ravenna, was attended by Migros Zurich, Bern Italtours, and Young Travel Lugano. Finally, the Swiss press is showing an increased interest in Emilia Romagna: journalists from the daily “Neue Zuercher Zeitung”(133,000 copies), the weekly “Schweizer Illustrerete” (198,000 copies) and “L’Illustré” (367,000 copies) were in the region to write reports on the art, food and wine cities of the Motor Valley.
