Nov. 22 – Today begins a special international event dedicated to “Made in Italy” music. The “Lucana Symphony Orchestra” of the Francesco Stabile Theater, directed by Pasquale Menchise, will be center stage in Vienna for a two-day concert. The first of the two events is scheduled for this evening at the “Salone delle Feste” of the Metternich Palace in the Italian Embassy. The second is scheduled for tomorrow evening in the church “Annakirche” (“Church of St. Anne”), located in Annagasse, also in Vienna. The rich and sophisticated repertoire of the two concerts will focus on the all-original proposition of well-known and less well-known songs, written between 1700 and 1800 by Italian musicians, in particular those from Basilicata, among these: Antonio Duni, Francesco Stabile, and composers Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi, Pietro Mascagni, and Rossini. The event was promoted by the Basilicata Region in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Austria and in particular with Eugenio D’Auria, Italian Ambassador to Austria, originally from Basilicata, by APT (Tourist Promotion Agency) Basilicata, the team “Energy Italy” and the Bank of Montepruno-Cooperative Credit Roscigno and Laurin. The concert will be attended by representatives of the political, social and cultural Italian and Austrian scene, the mayor of Vienna, the Austrian Minister of Culture, Ambassadors of foreign countries and other distinguished representatives of the international music scene, including the Superintendent and the Music Director of the “Staatsoper” Viennese.
