Dec. 26 – Enel Green Power (EGP) initiated the construction of a new wind park, Valle de los Vientos, in the Region II of Antofagasta, in Chile. The new facility will consist of 45 wind turbines of 2 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 90 MW. Once operational, the plant will produce more than 200 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 165,000 tons of CO2. The planned investment for park is of approximately $140 million. “Chile has a great potential for renewable resources, and this fact matches perfectly with EGP’s technological capabilities. We already have hydro and geothermal stations, however we want to add 250 MW of wind capacity by 2016, while we are working on a substantial pipeline for solar projects.” Said Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power.
