Feb. 1 – Hotels and hotel chains, tour bus operators, management companies and services, tourist associations and above all the beauty Sardinia has to offer: from nature to ancient traditions. In Brussels, all eyes are on the tourist island that offers cultural and religious itineraries without forgetting the white beaches, crystal clear waters, pristine forests, marine protected areas and navigable lakes.
The campaign to promote the Sardinia Region to the foreign touristic market has began in the capital of Europe, where it will remain until Monday, February 4th, at the “Salon des Vacances.” There are about 7 million Belgians traveling every year and they mostly spend their holiday abroad. And Italy is one of the most visited countries, in third place. The Sardinia touristic offer matches perfectly the taste of the Belgians, especially thanks to the cultural and religious sights and the traditional events that characterize the beginning of the year: Carnival and Holy Week. Sardinia is also a real “outdoor gym” where you practice active tourism. “The Brussels Salon des Vacances – said the commissioner of Tourism Luigi Crisponi – is a great opportunity to promote tourism to the Island: according to a survey, 80% of the public visiting the exhibition has not yet booked their holiday and choose during the show. Therefore we aim at least to confirm, and possibly improve, the numbers in the Belgian market. We had an average of 20,000 arrivals in the last three years, for a total of 90 000 admissions of Belgians each year.”
