Feb. 7 – ENI has made a new oil discovery during its prospectus exploratory of Rosa North, located in the western desert of Egypt. The drilling of Rosa North is part of the new strategy to refocus activities in Egypt on the exploration of mineral oils in the western desert. The discovery of an 80 meter deep wall of reservoir rocks in good quality belonging to the Bahariya, Alam El Bueib, Khatatba (Upper & Lower Safa Members) and Ras Qattara geological formations occurred in the Rosa North 1X well. The latter underwent a series of tests that showed a significant oil flow. Exploration activities in the area include the drilling of at least two more wells by the end of 2013. The production, scheduled for approximately 2,000 barrels of oil per day per well, will reach an overall average for the entire Rosa North field of 5,000 barrels of oil per day and will be conveyed to the nearby production facilities of Meleiha.
