Feb. 11 – He claims to be a “Viaggiatore Immobile” (an unmoving traveler) in his latest album, but Remo Anzovino will move a lot in the coming months: the pianist and composer from Friuli is preparing a new tour of Italy and the United States. The musician and his piano are expected in London and Shanghai and, for the first time, in New York. Anzovino – with his simple and immediate melodies that blend jazz, classical, rock and folk music – will perform at Iridium, the new reference club for jazz music – in the heart of Broadway – on March 6. In the coming days, instead, Anzovino plays in Turin, Bologna, Naples, Florence, Catania, Palermo and the Parco della Musica in Rome. Enthusiastically received by audiences and critics, at the top of the Jazz ITunes lists for his three earlier works, his latest album, “Viaggiatore Immobile” is requested from London to China. And China, in the springtime, will host three of his concerts: Anzovino will perform in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao. For his new tour, the composer chose exceptional traveling companions to create the unusual ensemble that accompanies his piano. On stage we will find Vincenzo Vasi (theremin, glockenspiel, bass, sampler, vocals), Alberto Milani (electric guitar) and Marco Anzovino (percussion and acoustic guitars), musicians who represent three distinct worlds of contemporary classical, pop and jazz-rock. At each concert, this quartet will perform not only the twelve tracks of Remo’s recent album, but will also recreate the magic of his past successes: “Walk in the Night”, “Taboo”, “Metropolitan”, “Lover” and a new track, “No Smile,” composed as a tribute to the genius of Buster Keaton.
