Feb. 18 – At the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show, the Turin European Design Institute (IED) presents in world premiere “Glory,” a concept created by the Transportation Design Master in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile. The prototype combines sportiness and Italian style, the characteristics of a brand with great international appeal thanks to its Made In Italy products. In 1966, thanks to the movie The Graduate, the United States comes in contact with the myth of the Spider duet. Today, the “Gloria” concept wants to be an international challenge, always looking overseas to the U.S. and Asian markets. 4700 mm long, 1920 mm wide, 1320 mm high and a wheelbase of 2900 mm, “Gloria” is a sports sedan with bold lines that run along the side all the way to the rear. The engine is a latest generation V6 or V8 biturbo. The hood reflects Alfa Romeo’s style, accentuated by the three-dimensional lines. The leather straps bring to mind the historical front trunk leather straps. “We asked the students enrolled in the Master to interpret, in complete autonomy, a new sedan Alfa Romeo – says Lorenzo Ramaciotti, Head of Fiat & Chrysler Design – During the development we commented on, discussed and addressed the projects in order to get the most spontaneous expression of their creativity. The result was exciting, and very professional and creative.”
