Mar. 8 – Two documentaries by Roberta Biagiarelli, “Souvenir Srebrenica” and “La TransuManza della Pace,” the latter funded by the Autonomous Province of Trento – Department of international solidarity and coexistence in collaboration with the Provincial Breeders Federation, were admitted to the New York Peace Film Festival and will be screened on 10 March. It is an important recognition for a documentary starring the landscapes and pastures of Trentino, alongside those of Suceska in the Municipality of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “La TransuManza della Pace” is a “mountaineer road movie” dedicated to the Trento and Provincial Breeders Association international solidarity project, which donated 48 Val Rendena heifers to families in Srebrenica, the town in Bosnia infamous for the massacre of more than 8,000 people during the Balkan war. The protagonists of this documentary are: Gianni Rigoni Stern, who designed and built this example of solidarity between communities; the Trentino breeders, in particular those in Val Rendena; and the resident community on the Plateau Suceska-Srebrenica (Eastern Bosnia), people who returned in 2000 to live in Bosnian territory, after the tragic events linked to the war in the Balkans (1992-1995). The documentary tells the story behind the 2010 delivery of heifers, followed by two other important donations, the last of which took place on 4 January 2013. Now, the Suceska plateau there are 107 animals, delivered over three years, and over 50 newborns. Rigoni Stern and Biagiarelli were also able to collect voluntary donations to purchase two tractors and other farming equipment.
