Mar. 15 – Giffoni Film Festival’s new cooperation programs keep expanding. After Latin America, with the experience in Brazil, and Europe (including the Balkans, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia), Giffoni looks now to the Arab world. In recent days, the Saint Lucia palace in Naples hosted a meeting between the Councilor to the Department of Culture, Caterina Miraglia and Abdulaziz Al Khater, Managing Director of the Doha Film Institute, the Qatari financing structure behind film and audiovisual production. Claudio Gubitosi, artistic director of the Giffoni Film Festival, also attended the meeting, during which it was decided to strengthen the procedures for the establishment of a partnership between the Doha Film Festival and the Giffoni Film Festival. In particular, the Giffoni Film Festival will support the training of Qatari managers and staff for the organization of events; it will also participate in the 2013 edition of the Doha festival and in the next four editions, thus giving birth to the Doha Family Festival. Finally, the Doha Film Institute will speak at international Giffoni World Alliance events. “For us – said councilor Miraglia – this is a source of pride and satisfaction: to imagine that a country so far from our traditions and culture is interested in the Giffoni model and wants to work continuously with the Campania Region and its excellence.”
