Mar. 18 – Eni’s ninth oil discovery in Block 15/06 rests in the deep waters of Angola, increasing the potential for resource development in production hub West. The discovery was made in well Vandumbu 1, located about 150 km from the coast, drilled at a depth of 976 meters and reached a depth of 4107 meters. From well Vandumbu 1 additional drilling has been carried out in a different direction (side track) thanks to Vandumbu 1 ST, which reached a depth of 3480 meters, discovering a net mineralization of oil (34 ° API) at 114 meters, contained in Lower Miocene sands of excellent quality. Based on the data collected, Eni estimates that Vandumbu 1 ST has a production capacity of more than 5,000 barrels of oil per day. Eni is one of the operators of Block 15/06, with a share of 35%. The other joint venture partners are SSI Fifteen Limited (25%), Sonangol (15%), Total (15%), Falcon Oil Holding Angola SA (5%) and Statoil Angola Block 15/06 (5%). Angola is confirmed as one of the core countries in Eni’s growth strategy. It has been present in the country since 1980 with a net production in 2011 of 102 thousand barrels / day.
