(Mar. 26th) – Last February, Italian exports to non-EU markets recorded the most significant economic downturn since June 2012 (-5.7% compared to January), although the trade balance shows of a reversal trend compared to the last year, experiencing an increase of more than two billion euro, reaching an asset of, in seasonally adjusted data, more than one billion euro. “February figure was somewhat to be expected, given the continued growth of the latter months on non-EU markets. Despite the setback, the Countries of the area are increasingly becoming an Area of reference for Italian companies, absorbing more than 46% of exports, a share grew by more than four percentage points over the last year”, says Gaetano Fausto Esposito, Secretary General of Assocamerestero, commenting on Istat data on foreign trade released today. “The markets to which our exports are showing greater dynamism are the traditional non-EU partners, as the United States, Switzerland and Japan, to which, only in February, we have recorded a surplus of 2.3 billion euros”, concluded Esposito.
