Apr. 17 – The start-up of the University of Pisa is one of the winners of the “Red Herring Top 100 Europe 2013”, the award given to the top 100 technology companies in Europe. This year it was awarded to five young Italian companies. As stated on the website of the University, the start-up in question is WiTech, based in the technology hub of Navacchio, which won thanks to the Cloud4Wi project. The latter is an innovative solution to create new generation wi-fi hotspots, easy to self-manage and quick to customize thanks to an intuitive control panel. WiTech is also one of the 15 selected companies from the Top 100 European companies to present their company during the “Red Herring North America Forum” held in May in Monterey, California. “We are very pleased and honored to have been selected thanks to Cloud4Wi, our cloud solution for the next generation of managed Wi-Fi hotspot services – said Andrea Calcagno, CEO & EVP WiTech – The innovation lies not only in Cloud4Wi’s technological aspects but also in the business model. Cloud4Wi redesigns the concept of Wi-Fi hotspots, enriching the user experience and providing new business opportunities for service providers. In addition, Cloud4Wi’s advantage is a business-to-community, leveraging, to increase revenue streams.”
