Apr. 17 – A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Umbria Region and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology to enhance cultural exchanges between the two. The program provides for the development of cooperative relationships between cultural institutions and scientific research for knowledge and experience sharing in the fashion industry, cultural heritage, design, tourism, entertainment, quality of products food, scientific research and technological innovation. The MoU also calls for: the exchange of researchers in various fields; the intensification of Italian language and culture teaching in China and the Chinese language and culture in Italy; the exchange of knowledge and experience in productive activities; economic development, with particular attention to small and medium-sized enterprises and to investment; the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of technological innovation in industry and services; and the mutual promotion of Umbria commercial tourism in China and China’s in Italy. “We have resumed relations that have always existed between the Umbria Region and China resetting them on an ongoing and finalization basis. The underlying objective is to introduce to the Chinese Umbria and everything in Umbria you can do, “said Lucio Caporizzi, a signatory of the Protocol. “The goal – said the Enterprise coordinator Luigi Rossetti – is to make the Umbria brand visible and recognizable in its unity and specificity, creating ‘cluster’ and ‘networks’ policies in which small businesses can do their job.” “It is important that Umbria is determined to maintain relations with China, – said the Councilor for Culture and Tourism Fabrizio Bracco – as the latter is a huge continent that offers great possibilities and opportunities for our companies and our operators. It is important that the ‘China Project’ is developed in all possible directions, showing how fruitful it can be to combine culture and economy.”
