May 2 – The worldwide success of Pinocchio is hardly a novelty: for this reason it is not surprising that on Sunday, May 5 the famous puppet will go onstage at the historic Cairo Opera House. Born from the imagination of Carlo Lorenzini , known as Collodi, “Pinocchio. Story of a Puppet” is directed by and starring Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, choreography by Michela Lucenti, with Chiara Lombardo and Francesca Taviani (contemporary dance). The show will have surtitles in Arabic. “Pinocchio”, born from one of the major works of Italian literature in the world, represents important and delicate themes and values not only for the culture, but also for democracy and institutions. The show, which represents Italy in the Year of Italian culture in the United States, will return to the United States on June 2 in Charleston as part of the festival of the performing arts, then on June 4 in Providence, then in New Jersey in New York, and finally in Miami, on June 11 at the Colony Theatre.
