May 17 – Italian products in the medium-high range are often described as “beautiful and well made.” Needless to say, Prosciutto di Parma is fully part of this category. Its success, however, is not given simply by a good marketing campaign, but it is backed by its excellent quality and rising exports. “The export results – says Paolo Tanara, President of the Consortium – are a breath of fresh air for us, as they allow us to deal with the crisis of the internal market. With great foresight our Consortium has had a strategy of development in foreign markets, which means not only we export more, but rather that we had to reorganize and restructure our portfolio to meet the complex challenges of the global market. The role of the Consortium, as a representative of the 150 Parma ham producers, is essential to compete in foreign markets and the concrete results we have achieved in many countries for us are the confirmation of the good things we are doing.”
