May 29 – The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing has appointed Guido Ferrari as “Honorary Professor” for scientific collaboration on applied macroeconomics. Former professor of economic statistics, Ferrari has served in the former “G.Parenti” Department of Statistics at the University of Florence (1992-2010). The scientific collaborations with the CASS began at the end of the 1990s thanks to a cultural and scientific cooperation agreement signed by the National Research Council. Ferrari has since worked on trade relations between Italy and China, conducting seminars, preparing reports and internal documents for the CASS Institute of Finance and Trade Economics – recently renamed the National Academy of Economic Strategy. Subsequently, since 2006-2007, Ferrari has participated, along with scholars from different countries of the world, in the annual CASS conferences in Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing and others on applied macroeconomics for China.
