June 24 – From tomorrow until June 29, on occasion of the Year of Italian Culture in the United States, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Le Voci di Dentro ” by Eduardo De Filippo will be directed by and starring Toni Servillo. Co-produced by Piccolo Teatro of Milan, Teatro di Roma and Teatri Uniti, the show will go on stage at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. This is the first stop of a long international tour that will later touch important festivals in Spain (Temporada Alta in Girona and the Festival de Otono en Spring in Madrid) and legendary places on the European scene, as the Maly Theatre in St. Petersburg and the MC93 in Bobigny Paris. Servillo returns to the stage for the second time in the States, four years after the success of Trilogia della Villeggiatura by Carlo Goldoni, at Lincoln Center in New York in July 2009. Servillo received a prestigious live tribute during the 49th Chicago International Film Festival. The evening opened with the screening of “Il Divo” by Paolo Sorrentino, celebrating “the best Italian actor on stage and on the screen of his generation” as defined by the New York Times.
