Aug. 8 – “Connect to the world with a sound train that looks like a traveling RV; build and play your own instruments; play in the streets. The journey begins in Mammola (RC), touches upon all of Italy, crosses Europe and reaches Wales.” Saturday, August 10, at 5pm, Musaba, an open-air museum in Vallata del Torbido, southeast of Mammola, will host Shabd ‘Express’ first concert in their “Earth-Heaven” series. The group will then make its way to Wales on a camper to attend the Elementary Didgeridoo Festival, held from August 30 to September 1 in Hay-On-Wye, in Wales’ Powys region. There are more than 30 planned gigs in Italy and Europe before the group reaches its destination, but the group openly admits that the journey itself is the final destination. Shabd ‘Express borrows its philosophy from the Indian Sadhus, according to whom “if you do not walk to get where you’re going, you will not see what you want to find.” Shabd ‘Express are Lorenzo Aristodemo (didgeridoo-harmonium-accordion), Massimo Tirino (rammerdrum-clarinet-sax-guitar-vocals), Alessandra Colucci (drums-vocals), and Maria Todaro (vocals).
