Aug. 21 – Monaco from an American perspective, filtered by an Italian eye. This is the ambitious “Mythical Monte-Carlo: 150 Years in the Making” project set up by the Alliance Francaise Institute in New York to celebrate Monaco’s history. AFI joined forces with the Monaco Consulate and the Monaco government tourist office in New York to present photographs of the city by the talented Gabriele Basilico, who passed away last February. The exhibit, on display until Friday, is hosted in the AFI Gallery and includes some 200 shots taken in 2006, that were commissioned by the Nouveau musée national de Monaco, as well as other archive footage.
