Aug. 29 – Another success for the Crisba Research Centre of the Higher Institute “Isis – Leopoldo II di Lorena” in Grosseto. Its research on the tomato industry was recently presented in Beijing, during the 10th International Congress of Plant Pathology. The Crisba carried out scientific experiments on the agro -environment of the territory and the use of beneficial microorganisms in agriculture in place of chemical inputs. The research project was carried out with the direct involvement of the Institute’s students, the support of the Grosseto Province, and a close collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences of the University of Pisa. The University of Pisa conducted the research, and focuses on the use of isolated microbial for fertilization and biological defense for industrial tomato production. The obtained results were so important to be presented at an international symposium. The research allows for the transfer of the latest scientific innovations in the lab to local manufacturers’ fields. These were involved in the trials in the initial production stages of the plants in the nursery – thanks to the collaboration of agricultural companies like Edilio Marioni (Roselle) and Giovanni D’Aria (Rosignano Marittimo) – and after transplantation in open fields. In these days, the inoculated tomatoes are being collected by the Research Centre – together with the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers in Grosseto.
