Oct. 23 – It’s much more than a book or a handbook: “Neonatology” was edited by Professors Giuseppe Buonocore, Rodolfo Bracci and Michael Weindling. The first is professor of Pediatrics at the University of Siena (and director of the pediatric ward of the neonatal hospital at the University of Siena), the second is also professor of pediatrics at the University of Siena and, the third is professor of pediatrics and neonatology at the University of Liverpool. The text is related to pediatrics and it specifically concerns medical care for infants, especially neonatal diseases and premature births. It has had an excellent reception from both the international scientific community and healthcare professionals. In 2012, there were over 13,500 downloads of single chapters from the publisher’s website, Springer Verlag – one of the most prestigious and well-known international scientific publishers – that also published “Neonatology” in print and distributed it around the world as well as the electronic format. “The publishing house declared the volume among the top 25 most downloaded and sold books, and they proposed to include the second edition in the Major Reference Work, a type of publication that is constantly updated by the authors,” raves Professor Buonocore, “the volume has been accepted by the Italian Society of Neonatology as a reference text for Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care, evidence of its validity and functionality.”
