Jan. 9 – “I think every shot traces an instinct that I have never explored before in my work and maybe in my life.” Anna Di Prospero’s self-portraits are on display from today until March 11 at Galerie Madé in Paris, for the exhibition “Instincts.” The 27 year-old Roman photographer has 18 photos, all dating back to 2012, for the most part self-portraits or of her companion: fragments of faces (closed eyes, smiling mouths, talking, kissing) and bodies (hands or backs) that are combined in special ways, creating ” mental archive.” The photographs retrace intimate moments. Every shot is a diptych: the image on the right is digitally developed with water, grass, clouds, flowers, rocks, dust and dirt effects. “I use photography as a tool for questioning my relationship with the people around me,” says the artist, who in 2008 was selected for the International Photography Festival of Rome and in 2011 was awarded ” the discovery of the year award” at the Lucie Awards.
