Jan. 20 – The University of Macerata (UNIMC) is stepping on the internationalization pedal, as the double masters degree with the Moscow State Institute for International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MGIMO), the most important universities in the Russian field of international relations, law and economics, shows. A delegation from Macerata, composed of the dean Luigi Lacchè, the director of the Department of Political Science, International Relations and Communication, Francesco Adornato, and the researcher in Slavic studies, Bianca Sulpasso, was welcomed by the vice dean Alexandra Khudaykulova, the director of graduate programs, Andrey Baykov, the deputy director of the International Institute of Management and project coordinator, Julia Karaulova, and law professor Aleksey Aleksandrov. The agreement, signed by the deans of the two universities, Luigi Lacchè and Anatoly Torkunov, allows students of the two universities to follow a double Master’s degree in “Public and Municipal Administration” issued by the MGIMO, and “Political and International Studies – International Economic and Trade Relations” by UNIMC. Russian and Italian students, who have already been selected and who have been assigned ministerial scholarships, will attend the first year in Macerata and the second year in Moscow. “It’s a very important opportunity for our students – said dean Lacchè – that will allow students to register only at UNIMC but receive the MGIMO degree as well. MGIMO is an exclusive university where fees amount to $10,000 per year, a university that forms the future members of the Russian ruling elite, selecting every year a thousand students from the 30.000 applications. MGIMO also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of foreign languages taught: more than fifty.” The presentation of the curriculum took place in recent days, first at the MGIMO State Institute, in front of a wide audience of students, teachers and journalists, then at the Italian Cultural Institute in Moscow in the presence of the Director Adriano Dell’Asta.
