Feb. 6 – The alleys of Trastevere, the Isola Tiberina and the Synagogue are the backdrop for Pablo’s quest to find his origins in Rome. The young Argentinian will retrace his grandfather’s steps, who lived in the Eternal City and of whom Pablo only has a picture and a poem. The film by the young Roman director, Eitan Pitigliani, revolves around Rome’s beauty and the importance of family ties. The short film stars the ‘Argentine actor Andres Gil – already cast on “Il Mondo di Patty,” “Don Matteo” and the Rai1 show “Dancing with the Stars.” “Mi ritroverai dentro di te” will be presented at the Geneva Film Festival of Chicago, scheduled for March 28-30 under its international title “Me reencontraràs dentro de ti.” The film is a 13-minute trip inside Pablo’s adventures in Italy: the young man will be forced to race against time, only to discover that his grandfather migrated to Argentina as a child, but returned to Rome during the War to fight, only to be deported to Auschwitz. The journey thus becomes an occasion for Pable to discover his an unexpected awareness of his background, between the physical milestones of Rome and his soul. “This short film was born – says the director – as a reflection on the importance of origins, which are a way to learn about ourselves, the foundation of our present and the way to our future. This is the engine that allows me to appeal to a wider audience, not just the Italian, Argentinean or Jewish viewers. ‘Never forget’, in my opinion, means this. And cinema has the ability to tell stories that create strong emotions, which we can forever hold in our hearts.” The movie is written and directed by Pitigliani, produced by Pier Andrea Nocella (Docksur Producciones in Argentina and Iter Film in Italy) and Angelo Laudisa (for the French Rosebud Entertainment Pictures), the executive production is by Laura Susanne Ruedeberg (Ghost son; Vajont; K2 – La Montagna degli Italiani).
