Feb. 11 – “Gli americani so’ forti… Ammazza gli americani, aho!” Said Alberto Sordi in the movie “Un americano a Roma”. This time, however, the tables are turned and American will think how great Romans are: 9 young fashion designers from the capital will head to “New York Fashion Week”. They will participate in Thursday’s final soiree “Ftl Moda Let’s Work America!”, the runway established in 2007 to support Italian fashion. Their debut in the States is organized by the Network Globale, Agency of Rome’s Chamber of Commerce for the internationalization of micro, small and medium enterprises. The event will take place at the Lincoln Center; and will give the participating designers the opportunity to introduce themselves on the American market. The young designers will be aided in the endeavour by famous NYC make up artists and jet set professionals. Their pieces will also be presented as ‘opening acts’ of the more established Italian brands. The designers will also engage in a number of business meetings wuth distributors, department stores and fashion bloggers. “Fashion represents a Roman excellence, capturing the cultural heritage of the city and constituting an important export source – said Aurelio Regina, president of Network Globale -. Rome’s fashion system is ready to interact with larger and more prestigious markets, such as the one in New York. And we are proud to present, for the first time, young designers and their concepts at the ‘Mercedes Benz Fashion Week’ in New York. This was an important goal for us, a landmark to reach in light of which we can achieve further successes.”
