Feb. 26 – The University of Parma continues to impress the international community. IT research Alessandro Dal Palù, of the Mathematics and IT Department, has been invited as a consultant to the new Center of Research Excellence in Design of Intelligent Smartgrid Technologies (iCredits) of New Mexico State University. The latter is a public institution based in Las Cruces, where it set up the center thanks to a 5-year financing plan from the National Science Foundations Center for Research Excellence in Science and Technology of $5 million. The Center will work mainly on Smart Grids, or intelligent networks that combine traditional technologies with innovative digital solutions to better manage electricity provision. Since 2001, Dal Palù and Enrico Pontelli (US coordinator for the project) have worked on programming parallelisms together. The collaboration between the two academic centers further consolidated thanks to student exchanges that currently see two Parma graduates enrolled in Master’s and PhD programs at the New Mexico institution.
