Mar. 4 – Yet another Neapolitan artist celebrates his success in the US this week. Alberto Pizzo, the 34-year-old pianist, composer, arranger and performer, celebrates his successful tour in the States by releasing in Italy his new album. Pizzo comes from distinct Mediterranean influences, as it clearly emerges on “On the Way,” his latest album produced by Cinevox and distributed by Egea Music. The record was released today in the U.S., and will be released in Italy on March 31. “On the way” was recorded live – during the spring of 2013 – at the Bunker Studio’s in Brooklyn. It brings to the audience collaborations with Fabrizio Sotti (internationally renowned jazz musician who has worked with Cassandra Wilson, Al Foster, Zucchero, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Tupac, and Gipsy Kings), Mino Cinelu (drummer for Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, and Herbie Hancock), Renzo Arbore and Francesca Schiavo. The album also features the voice of Toquinho, Brazilian guitarist and singer, with whom Pizzo duets in a Bachianinha by Paulino Noughera, and David Knopfler, co-founder of Dire Straits, with whom Pizzo authored “This ship has sailed.” The lyrics were written and sung by Knopfler on Pizzo’s music.
