Mar. 20 – “Jazz does not belong to one race or culture, but it’s a gift that America has given to the world,” once said Ahmad Alaadeen. And the jazz world today appreciates more and more “our” Italian jazz. The album “Steppin’ Out” (Abeat Records/IRD) by Roberto Olzer is the best instrumental production of 2013 for “Jazz Critique Magazine.” In particular, Olzer’s trio was praised for its performance on Abeat Records, recorded in Stefano Amerio’s studio, Artesuono. Roberto Olzer was born in 1971 in Domodossola, and has already released over a dozen albums. He is a pianist able to express his personal emotions in a gentle, persuasive and modern way. His latest album is full of classical, swing and emotional tensions. Alongside Roberto Olzer, there is Russian Yuri Goloubev, bassist, and drummer Mauro Beggio.
