Apr. 21 – “Du verre au raisin / Le vin expliqué aux débutants” is the French title of “L’uva nel bicchiere/Guida gaia ai segreti del vino” by Teresa Severini, the “handbook” to the winemaking world. The book, already available in Italian and English, has had considerable success, also winning in 2012 in Paris the “Gourmand Cookbook Award” and receiving a Special Mention in the International Prize of the OIV (Organisation internationale de la Vigne et du Vin). Published in French by Feret, the volume is illustrated by Luciano Carrera and explains in a clear and simple manner the techniques used in grape and wine production. “Having the volume translated in French gives me great satisfaction – says the author, who runs the family winery in Perugia (Cantine Lungarott di Torgiano) with her sister Chiara – because of my connection with France, where after graduation I attended a specialization course in Bordeaux. And Bordeaux – continues Teresa Severini – is also home to the publishing house Feret, which contacted me after my book received the ‘Gourmand Cookbook Award’.” The translation was done by Florence Dubourdieu, wife of Denis Dubourdieu who is professor of oenology at the University of Bordeaux and director of the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences. In short, considering the great rivalry existing between Italy and France in the field, the honor bestowed upon Teresa Severini is a great one indeed.
