Apr. 21 – How can we create unique dishes with simple ingredients? In Lecce, it is possible, and the New York Times discovered how. In five days, the Sant’Oronzo square of Lecce will host the “Cultural Capital of Good Food: Med-Italian Diet Festival.” On Easter Sunday, the New York Times published an article by Seth Sherwood titled “In Lecce, Making Magic with Humble ingredients.” The article was first published on the newspaper’s website three days, and has thus reached 850,000 readers thanks to the print edition and 106,000 readers via the web. Seth Sherwood’s words and images tell of his personal experience at several culinary schools in the Lecce province: “Cook in Puglia” (with Ylenia Sambati and Mamma Giulia), “Cooking Experience” (with Gianna Greco and John Duggan), “Stile Mediterraneo” (with Cinzia and Marika Rascazzo), “The Awaiting Table” (with Silvestro Silvestori), “Il Gusto del Tacco” (with Anna Maria Chirone), and “Alle Due Corti” (with Rosalba De Carlo).
