Melbourne – It’s an exemplary initiative the one carried out by Sardinians in Australia in aid of their countrymen. The fundraiser allowed to raise about €20.000 that will be donated to the Sardinian authorities responsible for supporting the reconstruction of the areas in northern Sardinia affected by the devastating floods of November 2013. The head of the initiative was the President of the Sardinian Cultural Association in Melbourne, who last Sunday – on occasion of the “Sa Die De Sa Sardinia” – invited more than 400 people to attend a charity lunch, where traditional Sardinian dishes were served by four Sardinian chefs well-known and appreciated in Australia: Giovanni Pilu, Pietro Porcu, Fabio Dore and Stefano Rassu. At the end of the evening, a T-shirt autographed by Alessandro Del Piero was auctioned. The initiative saw the participation of the Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, Marco Maria Cerbo, under whose patronage the event was held. Contacts are under way with the Municipality of Olbia to agree on a destination for the funds raised in Australia. (9Colonne)
