May 5 – Americans will soon discover the many beauties of Ravenna. The Emilia- Romagna city is the largest and historically most important in the region, and will be the star of a television report by the American public TV channel PBS (which has a total of 40 million viewers). The Ravenna-centered episode will last approximately 30 minutes and will air during the “Rick Steves’ Europe” program, sometime next year. Well-known TV presenter Rick Steves brought his troupe to Ravenna to visit, with the logistic support of Apt Services, two of the eight Ravenna monuments inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list: the Basilica di San Vitale and the Mauseleo di Galla Placidia. The crew then shot some more footage in the arts and crafts workshop “Koko Mosaico” to document how it mosaic art is practiced today in Ravenna. Apt Services was by the Region and the Chambers of Commerce of Emilia-Romagna for the promotion of the tourism sector.
