May 12 – For the Weefestival, the event organized by Theatre Direct dedicated to theater for children (held from today to May 19 in Toronto), the Italian Cultural Institute is putting together a performance of the Italian “La barca e la luna,” with the Italian theater company La Baracca Testoni Ragazzi. The company will participate in the festival along with other groups from Canada and Portugal, and will perform in English in schools and with free performances at the Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse in Toronto. There is also a special event scheduled for May 17 at 4pm, when the company will stage the performance entirely in Italian. “La barca e la luna” is the story of a boat that dreams to set sail towards the moon in a journey through imaginary adventures. The event is organized in collaboration with the Alliance Française de Toronto, Camões, and Sata Airlines.
