May 16 – The University of Trieste is the first Italian university in the U – Multirank, the European ranking of universities around the world. U- Multirank is created by an independent consortium, led by the Centre for Higher Education in Gütersloh, in Germany, and the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies based in Enschede, the Netherlands. It’s the first ranking of the universities funded by the European Union and it compares over 850 institutions, taking into account, among the standard indicators, student assessments. The ranking is multidimensional, as it doesn’t generate an overall ranking based on the sum of the various indicators: the universities are grouped into homogeneous groups of fifty, according to the greater sequence of positive results obtained in the various evaluation parameters. The University of Trieste in the “Research” ranking is 140th in the world, 77th in Europe, and 1st among Italian universities.
