Wolverhampton – AICA, the Italian association for Information Technology and automatic calculation, is a partner in Elvete, a network coordinated by the University of Wolverhampton and supported by 12 partners from 10 countries, which seeks to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between education institutions, training establishments and firms. Elvete is funded by the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme (under the Leonardo da Vinci program). Widespread unemployment and the mismatch between demanded skills and labor supply are common phenomena in most of the countries involved in the project: Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Romania, and Spain (Basque Country). The research focuses on professional training for 14-19 year olds, and bringing businesses in the drafting processes of said vocational programs alongside the school system, so as to set up training courses in line with demanded skills.
