Upington – Enel Green Power has connected to the network its first photovoltaic plant in South Africa, near the town of Upington, which marks the entrance of the Enel Group, already present in Morocco with Endesa, in Sub-Saharan Africa. The new 10 MW plant will produce up to speed up to 20 million kWh annually, supplying the energy needs of approximately 1000 South African households. After winning the public tender in 2013, EGP in South Africa will install more than 300 MW of photovoltaic capacity and 200 MW of wind power, thus becoming the first group to installed capacity in the country.
