June 19 – Tomorrow will come to an end the training course on safety and first aid, held by the School Sant’Anna of Pisa and the Tuscania Regiment Carabinieri, intended for 20 students chosen among the staff of the European Parliament, who will be involved in international missions. The theoretical part of the training activities took place between at “Vannucci” in Livorno, while the Center for Joint Studies and Military Applications (Cisam) of San Piero a Grado (Pisa) hosted the practical exercises. Between Pisa and Livorno, the “students” addressed complex and realistic scenarios through different exercises that test skills and abilities of vital importance during stressful situations. First aid in a hostile environment, stress management, the rules of good conduct before threats such as mass demonstrations, attempted kidnappings, crossfire, driving in complex situations, particularly in a state of crisis communications are the main aspects covered during the course. The Sant’Anna School won the tender of the European Parliament for activities targeted at training EPMs or support staff who work in “hostile” environments, thus exposing themselves to risk situations. The course was designed by Andrea de Guttry, Professor of International Law, who identified with precision the curricula necessary to address all aspects of the training. A number of prestigious institutions from England, Finland, Germany and Slovenia presented their projects, but the European Parliament chose the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, with the Carabinieri “Tuscania.” “Our partnership with the Carabinieri, in particular with the ‘Tuscania’ Regiment- said De Guttry – is a source of pride for us. With this course, we will provide a 20-year long expertise to the European Parliament. This is an important confirmation of our work, and a re-launch of all of our activities at the European, international and global level.”
