June 20 – Emilia Romagna is the land of taste: tortellini, mortadella, Parma ham, Parmiggiano Reggiano, the wines (Albana, Sangiovese and Lambrusco, just to name a few). These and many others are the typical products of the Italian region. And today Emilia Romagna delicacies are ready for an international challenge, for the most watched sporting event in the world: the World Cup. Emilia-Romagna arrived in Brazil for “Sial Brazil”: the food exhibition at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo scheduled for June 24-27. “This is a great opportunity for our food products at a time when the international spotlight is on Brazil, one of the most interesting emerging markets – says the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Tiberio Rabboni – Emilia-Romagna boasts the largest number of other PDO and PGI products and it’s the first Italian region for agri-food exports, with a 16% share of the national total. Initiatives like this are important to strengthen our presence abroad, and let the world know the amazing heritage of our culinary excellence.” The Brazilian event is an important occasion to join Made in Italy with Football, in the wake of the Mipaaf campaign “I eat Italian,” whose main sponsor is the national football coach Cesare Prandelli. The event is also a great showcase for regional excellence and its companies. The event is organized as part of “Deliziando,” the project for the promotion abroad of regional food and wines promoted by the Regional Council for Agriculture and Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna.
