(Jul. 24) – “The Last Judgement – Verdi’s Requiem” is a unique fusion of Verdi’s music and Michelangelo’s visual power brought by production designer and director Paolo Miccichè. The opera will take the stage on August 1, 3, and 4 in Montreal for the 4th edition of the Quebec Opera Festival. The show, scheduled thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Institute of Culture in Montreal, was commissioned in 2010 from the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, and was already represented at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow. In the show, Verdi’s Requiem will be accompanied by the projection on the scene of the frescoes that adorn the Sistine Chapel. This innovation allows both the performers and the public to immerse themselves in the creation of art, making it unique in its kind. Soloists and choir members will perform in costume, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Quebec. Among the artists there are soprano Latonia Moore, mezzo-soprano Eleni Matos, tenor Manrico Tedeschi and bass Luiz Ottavio Faria.
