Kourou – Avio collects another success, as the international leader in the design and manufacture of components and systems for space propulsion participates in the 73rd mission of the European launcher Ariane 5, which left today the European Space Centre in Kourou (French Guyana). Avio, provided the liquid oxygen turbopump for the Vulcain cryogenic engine and the two lateral solid-propellant engines. For the mission, Ariane 5 has orbited both the ATV cargo (Automated Transfer Vehicle) named Georges Lemaître, and the automatic unmanned European Shuttle, whose total weight is 6.6 tons. Ariane 5 will deliver to the International Space Station (ISS) propellant, water, air and other consumable supplies. It is the fifth and last ATV built after ATV4 Albert Einstein, launched on 5 June 2013. (9Colonne)
