Locarno – The National Film Archive will take part in the 67th International Film Festival of Locarno with a retrospective dedicated to the historic Italian production company Titanus. The retrospective was organized in collaboration with the Film Library of Bologna, Istituto Luce Cinecittà, the Cinémathèque Suisse and Titanus, and is curated by Sergio Germani and Roberto Turigliatto. The National Film Archive will contribute 19 movies to the retrospective, including some restored ones: “La carne e l’anima” by Vladimir Striževskij, made in 1943, but released in 1945, for many years considered lost and recently found in the archives of National Film Archive; and “Cronaca nera” by Giorgio Bianchi, made in 1947, this almost impossible to find for years, of which a single copy survived in the archives of the Cinematheque. On August 12, at 10 am at the Spazio Cinema (Forum), there will also be a roundtable discussion on the history of Titanus, coordinated by Sergio Germani and Roberto Turigliatto, with the participation of the Curator of the National Film Archive, Emiliano Morreale, and Bernard Eisenschitz, Gian Luca Farinelli, Chris Fujiwara, Miguel Marias, and Simone Starace.
