Aug. 21 – Extra virgin olive oil producers from the Euganean Hills and the historic mill Valnogaredo have cause to celebrate today. They were chosen by Taiwan’s import – export operators to participate in Chinese trade fairs. This is a great recognition for Veneto’s olive oil, obtained using the olives cultivated by about 300 growers. “Quality, territory, work, tradition and demonstrated innovation are the key elements to succeed,” commented the Councilor for Agriculture of the Veneto Region, Franco Manzano, who pointed out that “with globalization, economies of scale have an advantage to enter new markets. But gourmets and customers of higher tastes and with more spending power choose to buy small but better. And they are willing to pay for the product’s added value. Extra virgin olive oils from Veneto are generally sold at the highest prices in the world. And this for us is a sign that, even though olive oil production is a small portion of our agricultural income, our crops, cultivation, and processing techniques remain excellent. For this reason, I wish to congratulate myself with the Euganean growers, and all our producers from Veneto’s hilly regions.”
