London – From tomorrow until Saturday, London’s Institute of Archaeology at University College will host an international Egyptology conference sponsored by the University of Pisa. The meeting will be attended by some of the greatest scholars of ancient Egyptian civilization, including the American Josef Wegner, director of the archaeological mission of the University of Pennsylvania at Abydos, who recently discovered the graves of the forgotten kings of the 13th dynasty. Stephen Quirke, Harco Willems, Ellen Morris, Wolfram Grajetzki, David Wengrow, and Susan Allen are other reputed scholars who will attend the international event. The University of Pisa, which co-financed the initiative, was involved because Marilina Betrò, Professor of Egyptology, and Dr. Gianluca Miniaci, PhD graduate from Pisa and now researcher in Egyptology at University College London and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, helped organize the conference.
