Johannesburg – Luigi Robuschi, born in 1978, is a scholar of early modern Venetian history, and visiting lecturer in Modern History at the Department of Law, Economics and Culture of the University of Insubria, in Como. He was recently appointed the role of “Lecturer in Italian Studies” and Director of Italian Studies at the University of Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg South Africa. Starting in January 2015, Robuschi will take on this new important role within the main university of South Africa, where four Nobel laureates studied and worked, including Nelson Mandela and Nadine Gordimer. The university, known as Wits, was founded in 1896, and has played a key role in the struggle against apartheid. In the past, the great Italianist Franco Fortini taught there, while more recently it was the turn of Franco Arato, noted scholar of Italian literature of the 18th century, now in Turin. (9Colonne)
